Piano Performance at the V&A
Last week we were part of the first ever team to install a baby grand piano in The Dorothy and Michael Hintze Gallery at the V&A. The event was stylish, the conversation and drinks were flowing, and the piano melodies floated aimlessly within the gallery’s glorious acoustics.
The black Yamaha C1 was exquisitely brought to life by Olly with three performances. His mix of smooth jazz vocals and dynamic instrumental sets lent the perfect tone to a drinks reception around the Dior exhibition. You could have been at a 1950s cocktail party with Dior himself.
Thanks to Marksons Pianos for expert installation, and to Wise Productions for mic’ing up the piano strings in just the right way for the Sennheiser PA to do its thing. I’m sure this will be the first of many wonderful piano performances in the V&A’s illustrious Hintze Gallery.
