Euphonica’s Top Requested Wedding Songs For Strings
Here at Euphonica we have a vast array of experience in supplying string ensembles for wedding ceremonies. We usually get a lot of requests for specific songs, although we have a lot of clients who don’t know where to start. For the latter we’ve decided to put together a list of the most common pieces of music played during a ceremony:
Songs for walking down the aisle
Music for walking down the aisle often varies from the traditional pieces such as Mendelssohn’s ‘Wedding March’ and Wagner’s ‘Bridal Chorus’, to some pop classics such as Des’ree’s ‘Kissing You’. Here’s our most common:
Palchelbel’s Cannon
Wedding March – Felix Mendelssohn
Bridal Chorus from Lohengrin – Richard Wagner
Salut D’amour – Edward Elgar
Ode to Joy – Ludwig van Beethoven
Largo from Winter, The Four Seasons – Antonio Vivaldi
I Giorni – Ludovico Einaudi
Kissing You – Des’ree
All of Me – John Legend
A Thousand Years – Christina Perri
Songs for the signing of the register
For the signing of the register we suggest that two to three songs work best. Sometimes however the signing can take a little longer than expected, especially with photographs so do keep another in reserve just in case. Here’s our most common for the signing of the register:
Signed, Sealed and Delivered – Stevie Wonder
All of Me – John Legend (if not used for the entry)
Stay With Me – Sam Smith
Hoppipolla – Sigur Ros
Skinny Love – Bon Iver/Birdy
Young and Beautiful – Lana del Rey
Book of Love – Peter Gabriel
Close Your Eyes – Rhodes
A Sky Full of Stars – Coldplay
Moon River – Henry Mancini/Johnny Mercer
It’s a Wonderful World – Louis Armstrong
She – Elvis Costello (from Notting Hill)
Air on a G String – Johann Sebastian Bach
Salut D’amour – Edward Elgar (if not used for the entry)
Exit music at the closing of the ceremony
The exit music can vary from a repeat of the opening piece to a selection of popular tunes to segue into the drinks reception. Here’s our most common:
Rather Be – Clean Bandit
Happy – Pharrell Williams/Daft Punk
Empire State of Mind – Alicia Keys
Love Yourself – Justin Bieber
Wake Me Up – Avicii
Titanium – David Guetta
It Must Be Love – Madness
Here Comes the Sun – The Beatles
Wedding March – Felix Mendelssohn
Arrival of the Queen of Sheeba – Henry Purcell
Brandenburg Concerto no. 3 – Johann Sebastian Bach
We suggest a healthy mix of classical and popular pieces for the whole ceremony, however we also suggest you choose songs that will make it a good memory for you. If you have any whacky ideas of what you’d like to hear, then ask! Most string groups are willing to take requests and usually more than happy to discuss ideas with you.
If you haven’t booked your string ensemble yet, have a browse through our classical selection of artists, get in touch via the contact page, or give us a ring on: +44 (0)20 3397 9018 to discuss your options.
